(S. B. 1366) (Reconsidered) (No. 327) (Approved September 16, 2004)
To declare the second week of March as "Women's Week in Puerto Rico," which shall be an educational week during which the community in general shall receive orientation regarding the rights and responsibilities of women.
This Legislature approved Act No. 102 of June 2, 1976, which declares March 8 of each year as "International Women's Day," to render homage and admiration to all women in Puerto Rico.
However, we deem that the special activities held in recognition to the large contributions of women toward the lives of our people should not be limited to a single day only.
Throughout our prolific history, women have been a powerful force in the affirmation of our customs, traditions and national identity. Generation after generation, women have overcome numerous challenges and barriers in their struggle for equal rights and other social, labor and political vindications. Women's contribution toward the collective well-being of Puerto Ricans grows daily, through their excellence work and extraordinary creativity, and their contribution in the diverse fields of daily endeavors is greater each time.
Section 1.- To declare the second week of March as "Women's Week in Puerto Rico."
Section 2.- The Office of the Women's Advocate, the Department of Education, the Department of Labor and Human Resources and the Office for the Socioeconomic Financing and Self Sufficiency of the Special Communities of Puerto Rico shall announce the significance of said week by holding special activities and publicly recognizing that women have made significant contributions to the lives of our people. It shall be an educational week during which the community in general shall receive orientation regarding the rights and responsibilities of women.
Section 3.- A proclamation exhorting the people of Puerto Rico to join the activities to celebrate Women's Week in Puerto Rico shall be issued by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and delivered to the Women's Advocate, the Secretaries of the Departments of Education, Labor and Human Resources, and to the Director of the Office for the Socioeconomic Financing and Self Sufficiency of Special Communities.
Section 4.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
I hereby certify to the Secretary of State that the following Act No. 327 (S.B. 1366) (Reconsidered) of the $7^{ ext {th }}$ Session of the $14^{ ext {th }}$ Legislature of Puerto Rico:
AN ACT to declare the second week of March as "Women's Week in Puerto Rico," which shall be an educational week during which the community in general shall receive orientation regarding the rights and responsibilities of women, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
