Esta ley enmienda la Ley Núm. 94 de 22 de junio de 1977, conocida como la "Ley de Establecimientos para Personas de Edad Avanzada". Redefine el término "Centro de Cuidado Diurno" y establece el término "Centro de Actividades Múltiples" dentro de la definición de "Establecimiento", proveyendo su definición y reenumerando las secciones subsiguientes.

To amend Section 3 of Act No. 94 of June 22, 1977, as amended, known as the "Establishments the Aged Act," with the purpose of redefining the term "Day-care Center", contained in subsection (5) and to establish the term "Multiple Activities Center" within the term "Establishment", as well as to establish its corresponding definition under a new subsection (6) and to rename the present subsections (6), (7), and (8) as subsections (7), (8), and (9), respectively.
Act No. 94 of June 22, 1977, as amended, known as the "Establishments for the Aged Act," regulates all that concerns the establishments, to wit Institutions, Day-care Homes, Substitute Homes, and Day-care Centers that provide services for the aged. Each one of these terms has been defined by said Act.
According to the gerontology literature, the term "Day-care Center" refers to an establishment, with or without pecuniary purposes, dedicated to the care of the aged for the rendering of services, the majority of which concern health, during part of the 24 hours of the day. On the other hand, a Multiple Activities Center for the Aged refers to an establishment where the aged are provided a series of services, most of them social and recreational, with the purpose of maintaining or maximizing the independence of the population that they serve, during part of the 24 hours of the day, with or without pecuniary purposes.
Therefore, this Legislature understands it is indispensable to amend Section 3 of Act No. 94 of June 22, 1977, as amended, known as "Establishment for the Aged Act," for the purpose of establishing the term "Multiple Activities Center" within the term "Establishment", as well as to establish its corresponding definition under the new subsection (6) and renaming the present subsections (6), (7), and (8) as subsections (7), (8), and (9) respectively.
Section 1.- Subsection (5) is hereby amended, a new subsection (6) is hereby added and the present subsections (6), (7), and (8) are hereby renamed as subsections (7), (8), and (9), respectively, of Section 3 of Act No. 94 of June 22, 1977, as amended, to read as follows: "Section 3.- Definitions (1)... (2) $\ldots$ (3) $\ldots$ (4) $\ldots$ (5) "Day-care Center" means an establishment, with or without pecuniary purposes, where the elderly are provided with a series of services, the majority of which concern health, for people with more than three limitations in their daily life. (6) "Multiple Activities Center" means an establishment, with or without pecuniary purposes where the elderly are provided with a series of services, the majority of which are social and recreational, with the purpose of maintaining or maximizing their independence during part of the twentyfour (24) hours of the day. (7) $\ldots$
(8) ... (9) "Establishment" includes any Institution, Day-care Center, Multiple Activities Center, Substitute Home, Day-care Home, as said terms are defined in this Section."
Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
I hereby certify to the Secretary of State that the following Act No. 24 ($B. 1401 ) of the $4^{ ext {th }}$.Session of the $14^{ ext {th }}$ Legislature of Puerto Rico:
AN ACT to amend Section 3 of Act No. 94 of June 22, 1977, as amended, known as the "Establishments the Aged Act," with the purpose of redefining the term "Daycare Center", contained in subsection (5) and to establish the term "Multiple Activities Center" within the term "Establishment", as well as to establish its corresponding definition under a new subsection (6) and to rename the present subsections (6), (7), and (8) as subsections (7), (8), and (9), respectively, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
