(Approved December 25. 2002)
To add Section 7-A to Act No. 103 of August 11, 2001, as amended, known as the "Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority Act," to include the duty to publish a list of the affordable housing projects underway in the different municipalities of the Island.
This Legislature has as its guiding principle to comply with the programmatic commitment of our Governor, Sila María Calderón, to build fifty thousand affordable dwellings. We also have a commitment to build a considerable number of affordable housing for our less privileged social classes. To a great measure, we have initiated an intense identification program of lands, adequate financing, permit processes and delivery of thousands of affordable housings units. Now, within our duty as a Legislature, we have to inform our citizens of the existing affordable housing projects.
The mayors of the 78 Municipalities of Puerto Rico, have stated the need of housing for their people, through letters and statements before the Urban Development and Housing Committee, chaired by Representative Pérez-Román. The present Administration has concentrated all its efforts to achieve the construction of these dwellings and we must now inform our citizens of the existence of the projects, their location, approximate cost and
the persons and agencies to be contacted to obtain a new home in said housing projects. Said Registry will give the citizens the opportunity to visit the proposed area, become familiar with the surroundings, schools, services, commercial areas, financing opportunities, and other factors, which shall expedite the well-known and extend process of acquiring a new home. Therefore, this Legislature deems it is meritorious to establish a register of present and future affordable housing projects.
Section 1.- Section 7-A is hereby added to Act No. 103 of August 11, 2001, as amended, known as the "Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority Act," to read as follows: "Section 7-A.- Responsibility to Notify Affordable Housing Projects The Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority shall have the responsibility to prepare a register of existing and future affordable housing projects, including their location, the developer, and telephone numbers of the contacts and the person in charge of the project in the Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority. This register shall be prepared within sixty (60) days from the approval of this Act. The register shall be prepared annually, no later than January 30, and shall be remitted to the Governor of Puerto Rico, to all the mayors of the Municipalities of Puerto Rico and to the Committees on Housing of both Legislative Bodies. The office in charge of affordable housing in the Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority shall also have a copy of said registry."
Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
I hereby certify to the Secretary of State that the following Act No. 295 (H.B. 2707) of the $4^{ ext {th }}$ Session of the $14^{ ext {th }}$ Legislature of Puerto Rico:
AN ACT to add Section 7-A to Act No. 103 of August 11, 2001, as amended, known as the "Puerto Rico Housing Financing Authority Act," to include the duty to publish a list of the affordable housing projects underway in the different municipalities of the Island, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
