Resumen
Esta ley enmienda la Ley Núm. 184 de 3 de septiembre de 1996 para establecer que la asignación de fondos para el Programa de Internado Legislativo de la Legislatura de Puerto Rico será recurrente, asegurando su continuidad y permitiendo ajustes anuales según las necesidades del programa.

AN ACT
To amend Section 9 of Act No. 184 of September 3, 1996, in order to establish that the appropriation of funds to comply with the objective of the Legislative Internship Program of the Legislature of Puerto Rico shall be recurrent.
STATEMENT OF MOTIVES
Act No 184 of September 3, 1996, established the Legislative Internship Program of the Legislature of Puerto Rico for the purpose to bring the classroom to the Legislature of Puerto Rico so that a group of students may participate and experience the legislative process from its core. This activity takes place in the Capitol, where there is a direct interaction with the legislators in their offices or in the committees.
Since its establishment in 1996, the Legislative Internship Program of the Legislature of Puerto Rico has offered a significant experience to those students who have participated in this Program. On the other hand, the Program has been positively accepted by the legislators.
The Legislature of Puerto Rico recognizes that the Program has been very successful and deems that it is necessary to continue it. However, even though in Section 9 of Act No. 184 the funds needed to implement its provisions are appropriated, there is confusion as to whether the funds are recurrent or not. This Act is hereby amended on order to clearly establish
that the appropriation of funds for the implementation of the Program shall be recurrent.
BE IT AMENDED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO:
Section 1.- Section 9 of Act No. 184 of September 3, 1996, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 9.- The funds needed to implement the provisions of this Act and to enforce the same in subsequent years shall be consigned in the Joint Resolution of the General Expenses Budget of the Government of Puerto Rico, as a separate item under the entry for Joint Activities of the Legislature of Puerto Rico. Said sum shall be appropriated and revised each year according to the needs of the Legislative Internship Program of the Legislature of Puerto Rico, in the event said needs should be greater."
Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.

I hereby certify to the Secretary of State that the following Act No. 43 (S.B. 199) of the $1^{ ext {st }}$ Session of the $14^{ ext {th }}$ Legislature of Puerto Rico:
AN ACT to amend Section 9 of Act No. 184 of September 3, 1996, in order to establish that the appropriation of funds to comply with the objective of the Legislative Internship Program of the Legislature of Puerto Rico shall be recurrent, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
