Resumen
Esta ley enmienda la Ley Núm. 85 de 12 de septiembre de 1990 para actualizar la composición de la Junta Asesora para la Protección y Fortalecimiento de la Familia, añadiendo como miembros ex-officio al Secretario del Departamento de Corrección y Rehabilitación y al Administrador de Servicios de Salud Mental y Contra la Adicción, y permitiendo la participación de representantes autorizados.

AN ACT
To amend Sections 2 and 4 of Act No. 85 of September 12, 1990, as amended, in order to update its provisions and add ex-officio members to the Advisory Board for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family, and allow the participation of authorized representatives in the Board.
STATEMENT OF MOTIVES
By virtue of Act No. 85 of September 12, 1990, as amended, the Advisory Board for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family was created. It also repealed Act No. 16 of June 30, 1978, which created the Commission for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family.
At present, it falls upon the competency of the Board to implement, with a broad participation of the citizenry, the public policy for the protection, strengthening and development of the family as an institution.
Bearing in mind that this basic social unit to which we refer is constantly subject to changes of both its structure and its function, as well the duties, obligations and needs of its components, we hereby approve this Act. This Act updates the composition of the Board, by adding as ex-officio members the Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Administrator of Mental Health and Addiction Services, for whom family issues fall within their scope of competency, due to their powers and determinations.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO:
Section 1.-Section 2 of Act No. 85 of September 12, 1990, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.— The Board shall be composed of thirteen (13) members, eight (8) of whom shall be ex-officio members, to wit: the Secretaries of the Departments of the Family, Health, Education, Corrections and Rehabilitation, and Housing, the Administrator of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Directors of the Social Investigation Center and the Graduate School of Social Work of the University of Puerto Rico, or their authorized representatives. $... "$ Section 2.-Section 4 of Act No. 85 of September 12, 1990, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 4.- Nine (9) members shall constitute a quorum for the Board meetings. $... "$ Section 3.-This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.

AN ACT to amend Sections 2 and 4 of Act No. 85 of September 12, 1990, as amended, in order to update its provisions and add ex-officio members to the Advisory Board for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family, and allow the participation of authorized representatives in the Board, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
