Resumen
Esta ley enmienda la Ley de Beneficios de Salud para Empleados Públicos para aumentar la contribución patronal del gobierno a los beneficios de salud de sus empleados, elevándola de cuarenta (40) a sesenta (60) dólares mensuales. Se mantiene la contribución mínima de cinco (5) dólares mensuales para los empleados municipales, reconociendo la autonomía de los gobiernos municipales.

AN ACT
To amend subsection
(a) of Section 8 of Public Employee Health Benefits Act, Act No. 95 of June 29, 1963, as amended, in order to increase the Government's employer contribution to the health benefits of the officials or employees of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
STATEMENT OF MOTIVES
Subsection
(a) of Section 8 of Public Employee Health Benefits Act, Act No. 95 of June 29, 1963, as amended, provides for the Government to make employer contributions to the health benefits of public employees. This contribution has been increased through the years, and at present is for an amount of forty (40) dollars a month.
Our public servants are the main axis of our Government. It is the public policy of this government to deliver justice to its work force. As part of the efforts of the Government to increase its employer contribution for employees, we hereby grant a raise of twenty (20) dollars a month. With this raise, the employer contribution of the Government for health benefits of its employees is increased to sixty (60) dollars a month.
Aware of the autonomy of municipal governments to decide the amount of the contribution they shall make to the health plans of its employees, contingent upon their own financial resources, the minimum
established by law is hereby left unaltered in the case of municipal employees covered by this Act.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO:
Section 1.-Subsection
(a) of Section 8 of Act No. 95 of June 29, 1963, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) The Government contribution for health benefits for employees enrolled in health benefit plans under this Act, shall be fixed in the General Expenses Budget, and shall not be less than five (5) dollars monthly in the case of the municipalities nor sixty (60) dollars monthly in the rest of Government branch offices, but shall not exceed the payment of the totality of the rate corresponding to any employee."
Section 2.—This Act shall take effect on January $1^{ ext {st }}, 2002$.

AN ACT to amend subsection
(a) of Section 8 of Public Employee Health Benefits Act, Act No. 95 of June 29, 1963, as amended, in order to increase the Government's employer contribution to the health benefits of the officials or employees of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, has been translated from Spanish to English and that the English version is correct.
