LEY

Para enmendar la Sección 1 de la Ley Núm. 45 de 4 de junio de 1982, a los fines de establecer con precisión el límite de 200 metros que deberá haber entre una escuela privada o pública y establecimientos que operen máquinas electrónicas de juegos o máquinas de "Pin Ball".

Decrétase por la Asamblea Legislativa de Puerto Rico:

Sección 1.- Se enmienda la Sección 1 de la Ley Núm. 45 de 4 de junio de 1982, para que lea como sigue: "Sección 1.-Ningún establecimiento donde se operen máquinas electrónicas de juegos o máquinas de "Pin Ball" que funcionen con monedas o fichas podrá situarse a una distancia menor de doscientos (200) metros de una escuela pública o privada. Esta medida se tomará del punto más cercano del lindero exterior del predio ocupado por la escuela al lindero exterior del local ocupado por el establecimiento donde se operen máquinas electrónicas de juegos o máquinas de "Pin Ball" que funcionen con monedas o fichas.

Los establecimientos dedicados exclusivamente a operar máquinas electrónicas de juegos o máquinas de "Pin Ball" que funcionen con monedas o fichas que ya estuvieren situados a una distancia menor de la aquí establecida, permanecerán cerrados durante las horas de funcionamiento del plantel escolar en cuya proximidad se hallen.

Aquellos establecimientos que se dediquen a otro tipo de negocio en los cuales haya ubicadas máquinas electrónicas de juegos o máquinas de "Pin Ball" que funcionen con monedas o fichas y los cuales ya estuvieren situados a una distancia menor de la aqui establecida, no podrán operar ni permitir que sean operadas dichas máquinas durante las horas de funcionamiento del plantel escolar en cuya proximidad se hallen."

Sección 2.- Esta Ley comenzará a regir inmediatamente después de su aprobación.

AN ACT

To amend Section 1 of Act No. 45 of June 4, 1982, in order to establish with precision the 200-meter limit that there must be between a public or private school and estab11 ishments that operate electronic games, or pinball machines.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO:

Section 1.- Section 1 of Act No. 45 of June 4, 1982, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 1.- No establishment in which coin-or tokenoperated electronic games, or pinball machines are operated, shall be located at a distance less than two hundred (200) meters from a public or private school. This measurement shall be taken from the closest point of the outer boundary of the lot occupied by the school, to the outer boundary of the lot where the establishment in which the electronic games or pinball machines, operated by coins or tokens, are in operation.

Establishments devoted exclusively to the operation of electronic games, or pinball machines run by coins or tokens, which are already established at a distance from a school which is less than that established herein, shall remain closed during the hours in which the school in whose proximity they are located, is functioning.

Those establishments which are devoted to other kinds of business, in which coin-or token-operated electronic games, or pinball machines are found, and which are already located at a distance which is less than what is established herein, shall not operate nor allow said machines to be operated during the hours in which the school in whose proximity they are located, is functioning."

Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
