Resumen
Esta ley enmienda la Ley Núm. 158 de 1942, que creó el Servicio de Bomberos de Puerto Rico. Su propósito es aumentar las multas por infracciones a las reglas y reglamentos establecidos por el Jefe de Bomberos para garantizar la seguridad y prevenir incendios en lugares de recreo, industrias, establecimientos comerciales, edificios públicos, residencias y vías públicas. La ley detalla las sanciones, que incluyen multas y/o penas de cárcel.

LEY
Para enmendar el inciso 11 del Artículo 4 de la Ley Núm. 158, de 9 de mayo de 1942, según enmendada, que crea el Serviciu de Bomberos de Puerto Rico, para aumentar las multas por toda infracción a cualquier regla y reglamento establecido por el Jefe de Bomberos.
Decrétase por la Asamblea Legislativa de Puerto Rico:
Sección 1.- Se enmienda el inciso 11 del Artículo 4 de la Ley Núm. 158, de 9 de mayo de 1942, según enmendada, para que lea como sigue: "Artículo 4.-Facultades y deberes; alistamiento; reglamentación; informes; penalidades.
Los deberes y poderes del Jefe de Bomberos serán: (1) (11) El Jefe de Bomberos queda además por la presente autorizado para establecer reglas y formular reglamentos para la observancia de las debidas condiciones de seguridad y para evitar incendios en sitios de recreo y deportes, en las industrias, establecimientos c:merciales, en los edificios destinados a exhibiciones o a espectáculos públicos y casas, apartamientos residenciales, vías públicas y hogares, y estas reglas y regla mentaciones tendrán su efecto de ley, luego de haber sido promulgadas por el Gobernador y publicadas en dos periódicos de circulación general en el Estado Libre Asociado. Toda infracción a cualquiera de las reglas y reglamentos, establecidos por el Jefe de Bomberos, aprobados y promulgados por el Gobernador, se castigará con multa no menor de cien (100) dólares, ni mayor de quinientos (500) dólares o en su defecto, con cárcel por un período no menor de cinco (5) días, ni mayor de noventa (90) días, o ambas penas, a discreción del tribunal." Sección 2.- Esta Ley comenzará a regir inmediatamente después de su aprobación.

B. 925) of the 3rd Session of the 9th Legislature of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, entitled:
AN ACT to amend subsection 11 of Section 4 of Act No. 158 of May 9, 1942 as amended, which creates the Fire Service of Puerto Rico, to increase the fines on every infraction to any rule and regulation established by the Fire Chief, and finds the same are complete, true and correct versions of each other.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO: Section 1.- Subsection 11 of Section 4 of Act No. 158 of May 9, 1942 as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 4.- Faculties and duties; recruiting; regulation; reports; penalties.
The duties and powers of the Fire Chief shall be: (1) (11) The Fire Chief is further authorized to establish rules and to prescribe regulations to keep the proper security conditions and to prevent fires in places for amusement and sports, in industries, commercial places, in buildings designed for exhibitions or public shows, and houses, residential apartments, public highways, and homes, and these rules
and regulations shall have force of law after being promulgated by the Governor and published in two newspapers of general circulation in the Commonwealth. Every infraction to any of the rules and regulations established by the Fire Chief and approved and promulgated by the Governor, will be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred (100) dollars, nor more than five hundred (500) dollars, or in its defect, by imprisonment for a term of not less than five (5) days, nor more than ninety (90) days, or both penalties, at the discretion of the Court."
Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
