Esta ley enmienda la Regla 59 de las Reglas de Procedimiento Criminal de 1963 para establecer un término máximo de diez (10) días para que el acusado conteste la acusación, con el fin de agilizar los procedimientos criminales.

Para enmendar la Regla 59 de las de Procedimiento Criminal de 1963, según enmendadas, a fin de establecer un término máximo de 10 días para contestar la acusación.
EXPOSICION DE MOTIVOS
La presente medida va dirigida a establecer un máximo de tiempo para contestar la acusación. La misma propone agilizar el procedimiento criminal actual en esta etapa, lo que ha de resultar en una mejor administración de la justicia criminal en nuestra sociedad.
Decrétase por la Asamblea Legislativa de Puerto Rico:
Sección 1.- Se enmienda la Regla 59 de las de Procedimiento Criminal de 1963, según enmendadas, para que se lea como sigue: "Regla 59.-Plazo para Alegar Si el acusado lo solicitare al leérsele la acusación, se le deberá conceder un término razonable, no menor de un (1) día, ni mayor de diez (10) días para contestar la acusación."
Sección 2.- Esta ley comenzará a regir inmediatamente después de su aprobación.

To amend Rule 59 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure of 1963 as amended, to establish a maximum term of 10 days to answer the charge.
STATEMENT OF MOTIVES
This bill has the intention of establishing a maximum time to answer the charge. It intends to expedite current criminal procedure at this stage, which shall result in a better administration of criminal justice in our society.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF PUERTO RICO: Section 1.- Rule 59 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure of 1963 as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Rule 59.- Term for Allegations Should the accused request it on being arraigned, he shall be allowed a reasonable term of not less than one (1) day, nor more than ten (10) days to answer the charges."
Section 2.- This Act shall take effect immediately after its approval.
